Taking care of a new born kitten is quiet a difficult and challenging task, specially when the kitten is separated from its mom at an early age. Therefore, it is highly recommended not separate kitten from its mother. In case if you meet an orphan kitten lying around on streets, wait there about an hour to make sure that its mom is not around. Once confirmed, ask the neighboring people to be hundred percent sure that it is an orphan. Now you can take it home.
Follow the following procedure to comfort and feed the kitten.
01. First of all, make it warm. Take a box and put a course cloth on the surface. Keep the kitten on the cloth. Now take a plastic bottle and fill it with hot water and wrap it up with another piece of course cloth. Now feel the heat on surface and make sure it’s not too hot. Put this bottle near the kitten and cover the kitten with a third piece of cloth. Change the water of the bottle when it gets cold.
02. Kitten is required to be feed once within an interval of two hours. The interval between two meals should not be more than four hours or less than two hours. Excess feeding may result into diarrhea, whereas inadequate feeding may cause dehydration and death.
03. If the temperature of the body is too low, do not feed the kitten; wait until it comes to normal temperature.
04. Go to any departmental store or pharmacy and buy Lactogen 1. This is a milk formula specially made for infant human, and also works great for kitten. Mix it up with water and make dilute solution. Take it in a syringe, through away the needle and feed the kitten drop by drop. Do not feed freezing milk, make sure its warm but not too hot either. 05. If the kitten refuse to eat, take a narrower syringe and press its tip gently on the corner of the mouth. This way you can force the kitten to open its moth. Afterwards, force feed very slowly, drop by drop.
06. Kitten at this age cannot pee by itself. Take a wet piece of cotton, and rub it on the peeing hole (genital), imitating the licking of mother cat with its tongue. Then it will pee.
07. DO NOT BATHE IT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
08. If it gets wet while feeding, make it dry by wiping it with a cloth. You may use hair dryer for this purpose.
09. Keep an eye on the kitten and make sure it does not come to the cold floor.
10. Never feed cow milk. Their stomach cannot digest it.
Taking care of a kitten is a tough job, but once it gets big, you will feel awesome.
